Zoidberg |
Last Update: 2008/7/24 13:11 |
Description:
Indie / Rock / Acoustic Paul Lawrence(Guitar & Vocals) Drew McDonald (Lead Guitar & Vocals) Chris Davies (Guitar & Vocals) Dave Kerridge (Bass) Nigel Gardner (Drums) A five-piece rock band that lie somewhere between "Led Zeppelin, The Clash, Stone Roses and Supergrass. Combining a refreshing mix of musical influences and infusing thoughtful and insightful lyrics. ZOIDBERG have created their own unique style and are here to stay. Gloucestershire’s brightest prospects are taking venues in the South West by storm. After their triumphant first gig in October 2007 the band have continued in their musical journey and within as little as four months generated some interest within the industry after their performance at a music industry showcase. Reviews “The performance was energetic, passionate and quite literally, balls out rock, guaranteed to get any audience kick started"..."the band work’s the crowd like seasoned professionals" with "infectious energy” - JAR Music company 2008 “Zoidberg are now darting from stage to stage exciting local audiences. Excitement it seems is in plentiful supply for this band as fans and A+R men enthuse over the group. "Standing out from their peers by being as much a thinking person's band as all out rock 'n' roll". Zoidbergs lyrics are a much likeable feature” - Wiltshire and Gloucester Standard "Self proclaimed as "the mighty", Zoidberg did not disappoint. Their music treated you like a friend. Refreshingly, they were a band of many front men, with each member having a distinctive role in the stagecraft itself and not just the hearty feel good sound that they tempted you with" - Andrea Lockwood Review available at www.soundsgoodstudios.co.uk/flash.swf

Tin Dogs |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 6:38 |
Description:
Alternative / Rock / Experimental Joseph Gallimore (Vocal/Piano) Anil Bhoumkar (Bass) Danny Heatley (Guitar) Marcus Beresford/Greg White (Drums)... Tin dogs....... Tin dogs is the result of 2 Bristol bands imploding and the remaining members finding love in a sweaty room in Redland...... The love of heavy metal elevator music...... Is there such a thing....if not why the hell isn't there..... The 2 bands in question were Kreemo and Reverend.....joe from Kreemo, phil and marcus from the mighty Reverend......Danny was found later,a part time devil worshiper who had recently beat satan at ludo and been granted eternal life...... Together they built the sound that is Tin dogs....a dark pop intensity that flicks fish hooks into the sensitive parts of the brain and won't ever let go...... And with the help of the God like Mat Sampson at the bands den and part time Social club,Kreemo towers....they have recorded an album..... Ten tracks of pure joy...songs that are intense, beautiful, melodic and fierce.....songs about the love and hatred of those nearest to our hearts...... Marcus....the heart throb of the band....is the sort of drummer bands wish they could have but couldn't handle his sheer power and just plain loudness..... Philip....the bass player and social concious of us all....locks into marcus like only the very supple of lovers should be able to.... Danny.....the eternal guitar player....brings such intensity to the songs that they threaten to overwhelm the world...... Joe....the piano player and singer.....the writer of songs and the harbinger of death to all power ballads born without his consent.... The album is called Professional Hatred and is available to all now...If you want a copy contact us through this page.....We will be setting up some sort of pay pal soon but for now come and see us live and obtain a copy through blackmail..... We shall be playing live very soon so watch this space for dates.... Enjoy the preveiw, enjoy the world, enjoy each other......just don't break before the time is right........ For everything else,accept.... Reasonable insanity permitted.... Fabulous the cry of the wanted.... Accepted.... Fixed smiles.... Powdered and glossed.... Mirror upon mirror.... Reflections of reflections.... Truly exposed to ourselves.... Inscisor impressions sunken.... Deep.... Deep.... Into the hands of loved and admired friends.... And death unrealised.... Fuck the depiction of freedom.... Loved though it may seem.... It's vanity crowned.... And fawned upon.... For it's not the true freedom we crave itself.... Or the freedom to be loved.... But the freedom of others.... To accept us for ourselves.... And let us be mean if we have to.... And proud though we protest.... And green.... With envy.... And mistrust.... A whole sub culture of Can We's.... And I Want's.... Disguised as the saviours of our souls.... And samaritans with ouzi's.... Gunning down the weak.... With barbed words of encouragement.... We are ourselves in rhyme.... And the prescense of evil in time.... So be it.... Let's be cold.... And expect nothing for nothing.... Unless we're promised the world...... With sharp teeth we will bite................

Gonga |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 6:09 |
Description:
Rock / Alternative / Metal George Elgie - Guitars Thomas Elgie - Drums Peter Theobalds - Bass Matt Williams - Vocals TRANSMIGRATION is the long awaited second album from super-heavy Bristol rockers Gonga, released June 2008 through Invada Records. In the years since their critically acclaimed debut Gonga have seen several bass players come and go, the most recent of which was Hallam Kite who left after recording the album. As such Transmigration reflects this turbulent time and it also marks the completion of the bands metamorphosis; or perhaps metempsychosis is more apt; “the transmigration at death of the soul into a new body.” In spite of these challenges, Transmigration is unmistakably Gonga; it retains the grindingly heavy doom and furious rock of the first album along with some mellow moments, but it has undeniably moved forward. “A return from the Void formed anew and with fire in our eyes. This beast is not different from before, nor is it the same; it is evolution.” Radio 1’s Zane Lowe made Stratofortress ‘single of the week’ and the 2004 self titled debut ‘album of the week’ an honour that was quickly followed by an invitation to play on his prestigious evening session. Following this critical acclaim Gonga embarked on several fierce headline tours and were invited to tour with Mondo Generator and High On Fire. They also made several festival appearances including Glastonbury, Download, Shambala and Ashton Court. Gonga’s talent is widely recognized within the industry; Portishead’s invitation to play at the 2008 ‘All Tomorrow’s Parties’ is a mark of just how highly their new work is regarded. Geoff Barrow also cited the band as an influence on ‘Third’. As well as working on their latest album Gonga have been playing with Portishead , Crippled Black Phoenix , Ramesses , The Flies, Sadaar Bazaar and Joe Volk’s solo material. And so the tides of fate turn once more. After the completion of the new album singer Joe Volk leaves the band. In a final act of defiance to the powers that sought their end the Brothers Gonga summon Peter Theobalds (ex-Akercocke) as Bass Lord and Matt Williams (aka Team Brick) on Vocals. Now the Transmigration is complete. Gigs

Sleeping With Satellites |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 6:09 |
Description:
Emo / Electro James Wiggans (guitar and vox) Jason Day (bass and backing vox) Ricky Bodalia (guitar) Miguel Andrews (drums and backing vox) A HUGE THANKS TO AARON SAYERS FOR RECORDING AND MIXING THE NEW TRACK FOR US!! This is a brand new band from Bristol/Leeds. We have been in the same originals bands previously and split up and went our own seperate ways to join other bands and projects. After about a year of not playing together, we have decided it is our sworn duty to get back together with a different line up, name, a new attitude and a different way of song writing. Thus "Sleeping With Satellites" was born! We have gone for a more abstract approach to the way we have been writing new songs. We've decided to go for a much more aggressive "BALLS OUT" sound for most of the songs written. With an interesting and exciting concoction of fast upbeat choruses, beafy riffage, drum machines and electrical glitch sound effects in the other parts of the songs, we've tried to hit people in the gut with our songs from start to finish without giving you a chance to gasp for breath. Bloody Tourists |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 5:56 |
Description:
Garage / Punk / New Wave www.bloodytourists.co.ukhttp://www.myspace.com/bloodytourists Jim - guitar, vocals Lee - bass, vocals Dave - drums Bloody Tourists are a Bath based three-piece indie punk band, with influences including The White Stripes, The Pixies and The Fall. This is what the judges at Moles said: about Bloody Tourists: "Bloody Tourists have by far the best title. They’re probably the best band tonight too, and manage to clinch the most votes. Landing squarely into what should be called ‘Realism Art Rock’, there’s a lot of time devoted to The Pixies here, mixed together with a bit of Pavement without the crazy-timing stuff. Lyrically, Bloody Tourist carry the bluntness of Jarvis Cocker, and what is created is something very real, and very familiar. Music about every day life, sung in an every day way. The band are clearly relaxed (the slightly overweight drummer takes his T-shirt off) and most of all, they’re full to bursting with conviction. Grr" 'Karaoke and the Riot Police E.P' was released in May 2006

Loci |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 5:41 |
Description:
Alternative / Rock / Ambient Loci’s sound has its roots in the alt-rock revolution of the 90'. This is music born of frustration: aggressive and inventive, vast and explosive. Loci wield music writhing with energy and intent. Aggressive alternative rock offset by dreamy shoegazing; a sound that ambushes the listener with both brute force and siren-like seduction. This is music with edge, with dark intelligence and a sarcastic smile. A “sense of menace”, BBC Wales suggest, is what sets Loci apart, and indeed a Loci performance is anything but predictable. Eighty shows of frenzied acrobatics, bruises, crushed instruments and applause. Unpredictable? Yes, but what you can expect is to leave with a grin! A band true to the real ethos of indie and alternative, Loci’s self recorded and produced Filtered to Function EP is a visceral slice of their fierce, brutal and honest sound. “One of the rawest sounding bands to tear out of your stereos in a long while” UK Music Search. Loci have received airplay from both mainstream and student radio, from BBC Bristol to Swansea’s the Wave dedicating a 15 minute segment solely to the band – as DJ Johnny B reinforced “This is music to care about!”

Your Robot Overlords |
Last Update: 2008/7/11 5:00 |
Description:
Rock / Pop / Indie Trev Carter (vocals/guitar) Matt Goulette (guitar) Nick Dawson (bass guitar) Matt Nicholas (drums) "In a galaxy far, far away there existed a race of super intelligent mechanoids. Where they came from or who built them was unknown (even to them) but their music was sweet bliss to all who heard it (or else!). Throughout the galaxy all lifeforms agreed that their melodies were unsurpassed and no they really didn't want to be squished like beetles. The mammoth metal monsters sat back and surveyed their work and god damn it, it was good! But across the trackless wastes of space sounds were born on radiowaves, sounds that tormented all those who heard them. The Atomic-powered brains of the robots were sent into a rage by the dreadful sounds and after almost two hours of suffering, it was decided. The music known as skiffle must be destroyed. Setting off on a vast journey they travelled for decades towards the source of the din. Year after year they moved silently and purposefully towards their destination. In 2007 they finally arrived.....at Earth." "...Rocket propelled choruses launched into euphoria, from a bedrock of unshakeable groove..." - NME "....'Get Up - Get Out' is a mash-up of guitar reminiscent of Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel' ,early REM vocal melodies, nailed down by the tightest of Northern Soul backbeats...impressive." - Razzle

Kerterver Cartzo |
Last Update: 2008/7/10 3:12 |
Description:
"We are called Kerterver Cartzo", they say, "which basically means 'knob rot' in Polari (40s/50s gay slang). Very immature, we know, resorting to knob gags". Indeed. "They attack 'Remember (Walking In The Sand)' like Evel Knievel attempting nineteen cars at Ontarion, California in '71. Those daredevils! Playing David to 'Shadow' Morton's Goliath at the Little Big Horn at the end-of-the-pier. They land with scarcely a bump. The singer fumbles the mic like a nervous lover. At first softly, softly, then he forgets and it's all over, his performance pitched somewhere between Dean Stockwell's 'suave Ben' in 'Blue Velvet' and Uncle Fester having a 'light bulb moment' in the Addam's Family TV show. With music care of the rock'n'roll houseband from James Dean's highschool prom, we're watching the Kerterver Cartzo 3-D show in glorious technicolour, the greatest show on earth, and it's coming soon to a parallel universe near you. Be warned. Viva Kerterver Cartzo." - Tim Purr Fopp, Bath, Sat 8th June 2007: "Two in particular stand out: Kerterver Cartzo and The Hysterical Injury. Kerterver Cartzo (don’t even ask, but I do wish they’d change the name, just because I can’t remember it) is really unusual and I’m not sure they are even aware of their strengths and uniqueness. The most-of-the-time lead singer is Tim Daddio (amazingly, real name), a well known dashing figure on the local scene. He looks like he just stepped out of Raging Bull, when in fact, he just stepped out of the audience to be on stage. Smart move; he was always the best looking guy on the floor and now he looks good on the other side. And sounds good with his sort of Nick Cave meets The Cramps musical style. It’s hypnotic, it’s weirdly ambient, it’s down to the bone of words and music and it sounds great." - www.charleyspace.co.ukMoles Club, Bath, Sat 6th August 2007: "Kerterver Cartzo sound like: The Cramps, Nick Cave, Chris Isaac, Suicide and a host of other, but hopefully you get the idea. They also, most of all, sound like themselves, and that’s a good thing. Their songs have fine lyrics – in fact, they work best as sort of sung poems with minimal accompaniment." - www.charleyspace.co.ukMoles Club, Bath, Thur 3rd January 2008: "They're a band that looks the perfect antidote to garish Christmas mawkishness. Daddio lives the moody front man look with his after-dark shades. The music is a soundtrack to dirty rain soaked streets where tough men walk alone - Tarantino or David Lynch should snap them up, music and anti-hero, perfect casting. There's no drums but a swagger which creates its own beat. The best track is the last when Daddio adds a second guitar and the music has an extra layer, added strung-out menace." - www.moles.co.ukAmazingly, we've somehow been on the same bill as some big names like "Blood Red Shoes" and the stunning, "Flies". KC are proud to be part of the current crop of innovative and exciting Bath and Bristol bands that include "The Hysterical Injury", "Venus Bogardus", "Supermagic" and "Emily Breeze".

Description:
Alternative / Classical Opera and Vocal / Metal Danny Knight - Lead Guitar/Lead Vocals Ash Hale - Drummer Matt Wilson - Bass Jess Mann - Keys Lead and Rhythm/Vocals We're Ravage Raven. In mid 2007 a group of friends realised the massive gap in local music. We all have a love for European styles of metal like HIM and Nightwish etc and wanted to bring the influence into the southwest of England. We set out writing our interpretation on "love metal". Since then we have blossomed and brought in our own swing to it using sythns, strong male and female voices to bring what was in our heart to the stage. The success started with our first gig with an invite to do our first tour to Czech Republic and since then our music has grown on people of all ages through out the South West England and South Wales.

Description:
Rock / Alternative Josh Reynolds- Vocals, Keys James Matthews- Guitars, Keys, Little Whispers. Jack Radford-Sidney- Bass Theo Letts- Drums, Additional Instrumentation, Backing Vocals. PostWarSpain combine soaring vocals and dynamic instrumentation to weave atmospheric audio tapestries upon the listener. Chugging bass underpins spiralling guitars and evocative melodies, held together by snappy, crashing drums. They have graced venues such as Moles Club, The Louisiana, The Croft and Joe Publics, and have played to audiences of nigh on 500 people. The highlight of their musical journey has to be recording at EMI's olympic studios in London, where the likes of Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and Eric Clapton have all recorded. 'Aggressive Alt-Rockers’ - The Guardian 'Melodic Post-Rockers' - Metro 'Spiralling guitars echo with a resonance that rises through the ceiling to the night sky' - Venue 'They are REALLY GOOD...Enya turns male and fronts Coldplay gone prog...tight, snappy drumming...sublime guitar...Here we have a band that clearly take time over their songs and, like England’s inspirational cricket captain Michael Vaughan, will keep tinkering until they get the best results.' - Live Music Scene

Angry Panda |
Last Update: 2008/7/9 6:38 |
Description:
Rock / Experimental / Alternative Lee, Steve and Jack Angry Panda have been wreaking havoc on the unsigned scene across Bristol, the South West and the UK since 2003, with a twisted devotion to breakneck punked-up post-rock. The alternative trio make their sound with the simple conviction that it seems the only right thing to do in an insane, bipolar world. It’s time to get mad, angry, apocalyptic. Guitarist Steve Nutt mixes a spacey gamut of analogue effects with a razor blade technique. Vocalist/Bassist Lee Everson evokes an abstract lyrical darkness twinned with a blowtorch delivery… the fevered rhythm section is paired off by the kindred spirit of drummer Jack Everson, who provides the bones of a gigantic rock n’ roll DANSE MACABRE…all in the name of desperate revolution, the implicit need for the other and the abstract, and an honest plea for transformative oblivion. ANGRY PANDA: Embrace noise, evoke the rage, preach the fifth column gospel. Gigs
